How to Get Buy Box on Amazon?
What is Amazon Buy Box?
Amazon Buy box is the white box on every Amazon product page that features additional items that buyers can instantly add on their shopping cart. Buy box is one of the greatest features on Amazon that helps a lot of third-party sellers gain more sale. Based on research, more than 80% of total Amazon sales goes to buy box items.
Who are eligible?
Just recently, Amazon made changes with their Amazon buy box feature. Instead of offering the buy box only to one seller, it is now available to multiple sellers. These sellers will take a turn in having the buy box feature. However, there is a certain condition you have to meet before your account can be eligible with Amazon buy box feature.
1. PROFESSIONAL SELLER ACCOUNT
There is two types of account in Amazon, professional and individual account. There is really not much of a difference between the two account except on how these types differ on paying the fees. Professional accounts are required to pay $39.99/monthly in exchange of free per item fee. Of course, in exchange of the fee, there are also special features only available for professional sellers and one of them is the buy box feature.n
2. AMAZON BUY BOX ELIGIBILITY.
Not all products are eligible for buy box. There are times that a seller is very much eligible for the buy box feature but not all its product is eligible.
To check your product’s buy box eligibility:
1. Log in to your seller central account.
2. Under Inventory tab, select manage inventory.n-Select Preference.
3. On the column display, look for “Buy Box Eligible” tab and select “Show when Available” on the drop-down menu.
4. Check each product; all products that have “YES” under buy box eligible can win the buy box feature.
3. PRODUCT MUST BE “NEW”
The condition of the product you are selling is also a criteria for buy box eligibility. Your product must be new before to be eligible for this feature. However, if you are selling used products there is a separate buy box feature for your products as well called “USED BUY BOX.” I’m not very much familiar with this feature yet but I’ll definitely take a look at it.
4. STOCK AVAILABILITY
As what I’ve mentioned earlier, more than 80% of Amazon sales goes to buy box products. This being said it is a MUST to have a lot of available stocks on hand before you’ll be eligible for buy box. Amazon can’t risk adding a product without enough stocks on buy box as it may lead to unfulfilled orders and disappointed customers. n
HOW TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCE ON WINNING THE BUY BOX.
With millions of sellers on Amazon, meeting the criteria above is not enough to guarantee a place for Amazon buy box. Amazon Buy Box Algorithm is still a mystery to the public but paying attention to Amazon T&C and giving importance to how Amazon award different incentives will surely help win you win the buy box.
HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCE WITH THE BUY BOX FEATURE:
1. SELL VIA AMAZON FBA
Amazon gives so much importance to its prime members which makes FBA products really powerful. No matter how competitive the price of a product that is fulfilled by Merchants, Amazon will always choose FBA products over it simply because they are available to Prime shoppers. Of course, there is already a Seller Fulfilled Prime which allows very few merchants fulfilling orders themselves to have products available for Prime members as well. However, FBM sellers need to meet VERY high-performance standards before they’ll be able to achieve SFP. Most of these standards are actually given at 100% for FBA fulfilled products.
2. MEET SELLER PERFORMANCE METRIC STANDARDS
As mentioned earlier, giving importance to what Amazon thinks really matter. Since the algorithm behind the Amazon buy box is yet to be released it is important to maintain good ratings with every performance metrics given by Amazon.
3. COMPETITIVE PRICE
Not all products offering the lowest price gets the buy box. You are selling on Amazon to earn therefore it is understandable that profits are included in your prices. A very low price gives a low-quality impression to buyers and Amazon.
To increase your chance in winning the buy box, you have to provide a competitive price instead. Choose what’s the best price for the item in Amazon and calculate if you can still beat that price. The difference does not have to be big, just enough to show that you offer a better price.
