Why My Amazon Reviews Disappeared?

“Why My Amazon Reviews Disappeared?” This is one of the most asked questions I’ve read from Amazon Sellers through different platforms for the past couple of months.
Product Reviews is one of the main thing buyers look at before purchasing a product. It shows how great your item really is and how well it works. A 5-star rating, verified or not, is definitely an asset for every product.
Admit it! Product reviews are hard to come by especially if you are just starting out. Based on research, only 2 out of 10 buyers leave a product review and it is just frustrating if they even disappear all of a sudden. The big question is, WHY?!
In this post, let me discuss the reasons to your question, why my Amazon reviews disappeared:

A. Amazon Guideline Violations:

While we are aware of most Amazon guidelines as it is one important part of our business, most buyers are not. Just like any shoppers, most Amazon buyers go to Amazon to purchase and this is what matters most to them. There are some who leaves reviews but very few (except if they are sellers too) actually reads Amazon guidelines in leaving a product review.

Here are some Product Review Violations:

USING OBSCENE LANGUAGES, CONTENT, AND IMAGES
Of all Amazon product review guidelines, this is my favorite. Most buyers who used obscene languages are often than not giving a negative product review. Of course, negative reviews are still important and you should take time to read even the nasty ones but your buyers don’t need to read it too. In fact, it is even better to get them to remove as this types of review will discourage your future buyers from buying.
REVEALING PRIVATE INFORMATION, SUCH AS THE MERCHANT’S PHONE NUMBER OR EMAIL ADDRESS
This is one of the violation that most buyers commit. Since we are allowed to leave our personal information such as phone number and email address in our Amazon store, most buyers presume that it is no big deal to add them in their reviews. However, Amazon finds this information sensitive.
POSTING LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY SITES, ESPECIALLY PHISHING OR MALWARE SITES
Amazon wants to keep all transactions inside Amazon platforms. This is Amazon way of protecting their business and their users from unsecured sites.
ENCOURAGING OR SUPPORTING ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
No platform encourage any users to support ANY illegal activities including Amazon. It is understandable to delete this types of email as it will not only harm Amazon’s reputation but you as a seller as well.
POSTING REVIEWS IN EXCHANGE FOR SOME TYPE OF COMPENSATION OR REWARD
As you all know, Amazon does not allow review from buyers who purchased your item with a discount code or with refunds anymore. Amazon sees this as a review manipulation and automatically remove this types of review.

B. Buyer’s deleted them

Unlike customer seller’s feedback, product reviews can be deleted by buyers ANYTIME. As stated by Amazon in one of their guidelines: You can edit or delete your reviews from Your Profile.
This information both works as an ADVANTAGE and a DISADVANTAGE for a seller.

ADVANTAGE

Every time a customer leave a product review, you have all the time you need to contact the buyer and make their experience better. Of course, it will be a plus if they edit it and give you a 5 star instead but removing the negative review is good enough.

DISADVANTAGE

There is actually no assurance with every product review. Buyers can change their mind and can easily delete a product review or make a good review a bad one. If you’ve gained a lot because of a positive review you can lose double if they change their mind regarding the product. n
The sad part is, the reason can be anything! Maybe the item did not work after a while, maybe they don’t know how to operate the product, maybe the buyer and seller had a misunderstanding or maybe the buyer just want to.

C. Amazon Separated them

As what is stated in Amazon guidelines, sellers are not allowed to sell two different products in the same product page just as they are not allowed to sell similar products in two separate product page. When this happens, Amazon will review the product review left on the product page and transfer the reviews accordingly based on the product listings. This sometimes confuses sellers making them think that the reviews disappeared well, in fact, it was just transferred.
